What to Watch Out For:
- Scammers may claim there is a problem with your student account or tuition payment and insist that you need to “verify” information immediately.
- You might receive messages stating there has been unauthorized activity on your account or that payments are overdue.
How to Avoid Being Scammed:
- The Bursar’s Office will never ask you to share sensitive personal information, such as your password, bank details, or Social Security number, via phone, email, or text.
- Always visit the official University of Tennessee’s MyUTK portal to view and manage your account securely.
- Be cautious of unsolicited communications and verify any requests by contacting the Bursar’s Office directly through official channels.
- Report suspicious emails to OIT at abuse@utk.edu or contact the Office of Innovative Technologies.
